What do you do?

Amberlulu Bubble Tea and Sweet Creation is a business located in Appleton Wisconsin. Fanni Xie originally started her business as a licensee with a chain of bubble tea shops but has developed her own format and expanded the menu as she has gained experience in running the shop.

What's special about your business?

Coming from another part of the world, Fanni wanted to use her business to help promote her culture and includes both anime and manga themes in the decorations and offerings at the store. As an immigrant, she wanted to bring together people from across cultures to better understand each other and her service as a behavioral health specialist in the US army (including a stint in Afghanistan) only helped to increase her focus on creating a warm and welcoming environment for all.

How SCORE helped.

When Fanni left the army and was looking at starting her own business she approached Score for assistance. Working with mentor Paul Dozier to better understand what was needed to build a successful business and all the steps required to get a business loan, Fanni made great progress. With Paul’s advice and mentoring, Fanni was able to write an excellent business plan and then her persistence with finding a lender for financing got her to the point where she was able to start up.

Moving forward.

After rebranding, Amberlulu Sweet Creation is more than just a bubble tea shop — it's a space that celebrates creativity and individuality. “We believe that great ideas come from everyone, so employees and customers are encouraged to bring their unique ideas to life by creating new drinks and suggesting fresh experiences. The menu is ever-evolving, tailored to the local taste buds of our community.”

To further expand the offerings, Fanni introduced more food-inspired merchandise, providing customers with fun and flavorful ways to enjoy the brand beyond beverages.

In the summer of 2024, Fanni took our passion on the road with the launch of the Boba Truck. This mobile setup serves communities across the Fox Valley, attending a wide range of events, festivals, and farmers' markets. The Boba Truck has given the flexibility to connect with customers wherever they are, making Amberlulu Sweet Creation a vibrant and dynamic part of the community.
